Professional Development

comprehensive-trainingOne L Publishing is the sole provider of professional development for the LOGIC program. Professional development is held at conference centers at various locations, however most professional development is held in school districts upon specific request.

Professional development for Phase 1 of LOGIC is a three-day training. Day 1 consists of the current science and research available regarding best practices in reading, spelling, and writing. The history of the English alphabetic writing system and etymology is also addressed. The focus of Day 2 is the Orton-Gillingham approach, the implementation process and development of the LOGIC lessons. The content contained within the scope and sequence of the LOGIC lessons is covered on days 2 and 3 along with peer-to-peer practice with a sample lesson. Comprehension instruction is discussed using the decodable text.

The next four phases of LOGIC require one day of professional development. Participants must have been trained in Phase 1 before receiving training in consecutive phases. A participant must have had training in all previous phases to the one they plan to implement.
